The Face Fabriqué SOMMET

The design that inspired me to start Face Fabriqué, the SOMMET aims to put form and function on even footing. A 28L frameless pack patterned to lift weight and bulk mid-back, leading to a more comfortable packout and elegant silhouette. This has been the bag I reach for 7 days a week, whether it’s on the commute or quick jaunts to the market, helping me carry up a mountain or serving as my carry-on. Utilizing a variety of ultralight fabrics and minimalist yet impactful features, the SOMMET is the Rosetta Stone of Face Fabriqué’s design philosophy—ultralight equipment for daily living.

Every piece is made to order at my studio in Ridgewood, Queens.

  • Large rear stretch pocket made of bombproof mesh, with removable lashing cord and integrated tool loops. An adjustable Y strap keep things tight up top and can secure additional carry above the pack.

  • Discreet bottom pocket for maps and snacks. Only the essentials.

  • Flush but stretchy side pockets keep gear secure when in use and keep the silhouette clean when not.

  • Generous shoulder strap pockets keep your cellphone-wallet-keys, camera, or 500ml speedflask within reach at all times.

  • Ergonomic shoulder straps with a hidden sternum clip keep distribute weight evenly and keep the pack secure

  • A removable webbing belt helps to stabilize the pack when on tricky terrain. Micro side cords keep tall tools—whether their trekking poles or umbrellas—secure.

Primary Fabrics

Dyneema Hybrid 2.92

Incredibly strong for its weight (15x stronger than steel), this two-layer laminate fabric is made of 1.43oz/yd DCF backside with a 50D polyester face fabric. Among the lightest pack fabrics available. Waterproof and seam tape ready. Available in a range of colors.

Venom 210 Gridstop ECO

A technical ripstop fabric made from 210D recycled nylon with a UHMWPE weave for improved durability. Treated with a PFC/PFAS-free polyether-based PU coating for improved waterproofing.

Challenge ECOPACK EPLX200

A 100% recycled laminate fabric made from plastic bottles. A 200d polyester face fabric is reinforced with a 45° crossply and backed by a 0.5 mil waterproof film, which can be seam taped.

Challenge Ultra 400X

The strongest laminate fabric available—made from a 400D UHMWPE/polyester face fabric, backed by a bombproof crossply and 0.75mil waterproof film. Ready to be seam taped and tested by the activities of daily living.
